Curating a Neutral Wardrobe
I've wanted to curate a neutral wardrobe for awhile now and decided it's time to put this plan into action. I see it as my first move towards establishing a minimalist closet. I am excited. I created a Pinterest Board for visual inspiration as I begin mapping out what I want my dream closet to look like. I desire a closet that primarily consists of quality neutral pieces at its foundation. Pieces that I can easily mix-and-match and (hopefully) help me to avoid the "I have nothing to wear" phenomenon. Making sure I chose neutrals will take discipline, becauseI reflexively reach for bright-colored statement pieces. I love unique clothing that make a statement but realized over time, that I hardly ever wear those items, and they end up languishing in the back of my closet. While I'm not totally giving up on statement clothing, I'm going to prioritize neutrals as I rebuild my closet's foundation.
My Plan
My plan for curating a neutral wardrobe involves investing in classic quality pieces with a focus on less quantity and better quality. The cut and quality will matter most in buying my staple pieces. Since neutral colorspair well with almost everything, I will be using the following colors as my base:
- Black
- white
- grays
- cream
- Navy Blue
- Olive
- Blush Pink
Although I am excited about my new closet transformation, I still plan to stay true to my personal style by continuing to wear trends that I like; have fun with bold accessories; incorporate color in my outfits and indulge in my love for statement making and unique pieces. I'll update periodically on my progress as I move toward curating a neutral wardrobe. Stay tuned!
Cheers,
Nika
